Self defense with panties

I think the example of the crotchless panties is being taken out of context. We are guessing that this victim voluntarily stripped down to her panties? Is that what we're assuming here?
Or did she happen to be wearing crotchless panties when some asshole grabbed her and jumped in her in a street alley? Or was this really a case of date rape? Date rape is a whole different game but if this is the case, let's isolate this discussion and separate it from violent rape.
Or a case where a girl had too much to drink and some guy, having noticed she was wearing a crotchless panty beneath those hip hugger jeans wait until she passed out before he had her way with her?
I think it's very easy for those who have not been victimized (men who are not at risk and women who've been fortunate to never experience this) to say what is and is not appropriate ways of healing. I personally would not enjoy viewing this display but I certainly wouldn't make judgments against those who found it helpful.

The point being made by the Anti-Panty Line bloggers is that a woman who gets down to her pretty crotchless panties before saying no has already surrendered several lines of self-defense. This does not justify rape any more than the walking in a park at night justifies mugging. But a person trying to avoid mugging might wisely stay out of the park at night. That's not how the world should work; it's how the world does work.
If the object were to avoid rape, then it would be wise to avoid situations where rape is possible. The symbolism of crotchless panties bothers some people because the situation in which the crotchless panties would be revealed is a situation where the woman is already vulnerable and, to a degree, at the mercy of the man.
It's safe to say, I think, that I'm not a prude. But the whole incremental game of sex seems, in a world of true, free choice, unnecessary. Though we all love sex for its irrationality, at the beginning of relationships some rational thought needs to prevail.
People should make up their minds before everyone is half-undressed, and stick to that relatively rational decision. Sticking to that decision strongly implies saying goodnight on the doorstep while fully dressed; not in privacy with panties exposed.
Again, I understand that "no" means "no" no matter when "no" is said. But, remember, "no" is a whole lot harder to ignore when both parties are fully dressed and in public than it is in private, with crotchless panties defiantly exposed.
